Terms of service
Penpal is an AI assistant you use by email. When you email hi@askpenpal.com, or any address at askpenpal.com, you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email support@askpenpal.com and a person will answer.
What Penpal is, and is not
Penpal's replies are written by an AI model. It can be wrong, out of date, or confidently mistaken, even when it searches the web. Check anything that matters before you rely on it. Penpal is not a lawyer, doctor, accountant or financial adviser, and nothing it writes is professional advice.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. If you use Penpal for work, you must be allowed to agree to these terms for your employer.
Free replies and credits
- Each email address gets 3 free replies a day, reset at midnight UTC.
- You can buy credits from the link Penpal sends when your free replies run out. One credit is one reply. Credits never expire and belong to the email address they were bought for. Asking us to delete your data removes them too, so ask for a refund of unused credits at the same time and we will give it.
- If you bought credits by mistake and have not used them, email us within 14 days and we will refund them. Used credits are not refundable, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
- To keep the service running for everyone, there are daily limits on how much any one address, domain, or the whole service can send. When a limit is reached Penpal may stop replying until the next day.
What you agree not to do
- Use Penpal to break the law, or to harass, threaten, defraud or spam anyone.
- Send it other people's private information without a good reason to, or anything you do not have the right to share.
- Try to overload it, get around its limits, or make it email people who did not write to it.
- Use it to build a competing service, or resell replies as your own service.
We can stop replying to any address that breaks these rules, without notice.
Your content
What you send is yours, and so are Penpal's replies to you: use them however you like. You give us permission to store and process your emails only to run Penpal, as the privacy statement explains. We do not claim ownership of anything you send.
Availability
We work to keep Penpal running, but it is provided as is, without a promise that it will always be available, fast, or error-free. We may change or stop the service. If we stop it for good, we will refund unused credits.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, Bionics LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on Penpal's replies. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top. Continuing to use Penpal after a change means you accept it.
The rest
These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which Bionics LLC is established. If any part of them is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
